Editorial Policy

NappyTi.me is an independent sleep calculator and sleep-education site. This page explains, in plain language, how we create content, what sources we trust, how we handle corrections, how we approach advertising, and how readers can hold us accountable.

    Last updated: June 2026

    1. Our mission

We publish practical sleep content intended to help everyday readers understand sleep cycles, bedtime timing, sleep sounds, and the habits that actually move the needle on rest quality. Our goal is for every page to be useful on its own — something a real person would bookmark and return to — not a page built only to target keywords or display ads.

If a page can't justify its existence to a human visitor, it shouldn't exist on the site. We routinely audit and prune content that no longer meets that bar.

    2. Who writes our content

Every guide on NappyTi.me is written, edited, and fact-checked by Cory B., the founder of the site. Cory is not a physician, sleep scientist, or licensed medical professional — and we never represent him as one. He is a long-time entrepreneur with a personal interest in sleep optimization that intensified after a cancer recovery in which rest and recovery became a daily focus.

Because of that, we hold ourselves to a strict rule: every health-related claim must be traceable to a primary source published by a recognized medical or scientific body. We do not use ghost-written content from anonymous freelancers, and we do not generate sleep articles end-to-end with AI tools and publish them unedited. AI assistance may be used for drafting outlines, transcribing notes, or grammar checking, but every factual sentence is reviewed by a human against the cited source before publication.

    3. How we research articles

Our research process is research-first, opinion-second. Before writing any guide we identify the consensus position from at least one of the following primary sources and link to it inline within the published article:

    • National Institutes of Health (NIH), including NINDS and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute
    • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
    • American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) and the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine
    • National Sleep Foundation consensus statements
    • Peer-reviewed studies indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE, or Cochrane reviews
    • FDA, EPA, and NIOSH publications when relevant (e.g., shift-work guidance, blue-light claims)

Where studies disagree, we say so. Where evidence is preliminary or limited to small sample sizes, we say so. We try never to present a single underpowered study as established science.

    4. Originality standards

We do not republish scraped articles, spun text, or lightly rewritten summaries from other websites. When we reference outside research, we explain it in our own words and add structure, examples, and practical guidance specific to the way readers actually use NappyTi.me. Each guide is checked for unintentional duplication before publication.

Where we quote a study, person, or organization directly, the quoted text is in quotation marks and the source is linked. Long-form quotations are kept short and used only when the original phrasing matters.

    5. Calculator methodology

The bedtime calculator counts backward from a chosen wake-up time in approximate sleep-cycle increments and adds a buffer for the time it takes most people to fall asleep. Because sleep architecture varies between individuals, the tool provides estimates, not exact medical predictions. The full formula, age-group profiles, assumptions, and known limitations are documented on the Methodology page so anyone can audit the math.

    6. Medical disclaimer

All content on NappyTi.me is educational and informational only. It is not medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified healthcare professional. People with chronic insomnia, sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, parasomnias, narcolepsy, or any other ongoing sleep concern should speak with a physician or board-certified sleep specialist. If symptoms are severe — for example, falling asleep involuntarily during the day, witnessed breathing pauses at night, or symptoms of depression linked to sleep — seek care promptly.

    7. Corrections, updates, and review cadence

We review and update guides on a rolling basis, and we date every article with both a publish date and a last-updated date. Triggers for an update include:

    • New consensus guidance from a primary source we already cite (e.g., a revised AASM recommendation)
    • A reader pointing out a factual error, broken link, or unclear claim
    • A meaningful new peer-reviewed study that changes the strength of a claim we make
    • Routine link rot or formatting cleanups

When a correction changes the meaning of a sentence (not just a typo), we note the correction at the bottom of the affected guide or update the last-modified date. If you spot something wrong, please contact us through the contact page or email hello@nappyti.me. We aim to respond within five business days.

    8. Advertising, sponsorship, and affiliate disclosure

NappyTi.me carries no affiliate links and no product recommendations. The site is supported by display advertising only. If that ever changes, any commercial link will be disclosed in or near the block where it appears, in line with FTC guidance on endorsements.

Advertisers have no editorial input. They do not review our drafts, choose our topics, or influence our conclusions. We do not accept payment in exchange for positive coverage, sponsored content disguised as editorial, or "guest posts" with embedded backlinks.

    9. Conflicts of interest

The founder is not employed by any sleep clinic, mattress brand, supplement company, or wearable manufacturer. He does not currently hold equity in any sleep-related company other than NappyTi.me. If that ever changes, the relevant pages will carry a clear disclosure at the top.

    10. Privacy, data, and reader trust

We do not require an account, and personalization settings such as your wake-up time and sleep preferences are stored locally in your browser. Full details — including what cookies and analytics we use — are in our Privacy Policy. We follow the principle that the minimum amount of data necessary to make the site work is the right amount of data to collect.

    11. AI policy

We may use AI tools for limited tasks such as outlining, grammar correction, transcription, or generating supporting visuals. We do not publish AI-generated factual claims that have not been verified by a human against a cited primary source, and we do not pass off AI-written biographical or experiential content as the work of a real person. Author photos on the site depict real people, not synthetic likenesses.

    12. Contact and accountability

You can review our About, Methodology, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and Contact pages for more context about how NappyTi.me operates. If a guide on this site ever feels misleading, padded, or out of date, we genuinely want to hear about it — feedback is the single most effective tool we have for keeping the bar high.
